Group History

Founded in 1993 Simex is part of a 100 year old agri-industry family business . What started out as a one location grain trading business in the historic Wheat Market of Adana, Turkey has steadily grown into a group of family owned companies with factories in feed and flour milling, elevators and grain trading activity, corporate farming , soy bean processing , general trading , communications, real estate development and Simex's specialty of building agri-industrial facilities. Group's main activity continues to be processing of grains. Every year we process over 200,000 tons of grains into flour, feed and breakfast cereals , furthermore an estimated 10 million tons of grain passes though Simex built elevators , port facilities and factories all over the Middle East , Eastern Europe and North Africa.

With headquarters in Istanbul, Turkey Simex provides design, equipment supply, civil works, erection and project management services for agri-industry. Our activities are organized under AgriBulk, AgriProcess and Poultry divisions. We supply tailored solutions combining our skill and knowhow with some of the world's best equipment. Our scope of responsibility on a particular project can range from partial equipment supply all the way to complete turn key delivery. To perform this effectively we use in house management with specialized subcontractors.




AgriBulk Division

Simex AgriBulk Division has been a leading supplier of grain storage and handling facilities to customers in the Middle East , North Africa and Europe. Division specializes in turn key storage facilities , steel grain silos , ship loadingunloading equipment, grain handling equipment and grain bagging units. With over 70 facilities built, Simex is the leading steel grain storage facility supplier in the region and one of the top suppliers in the world . Recipe of our success starts with a through understanding of the customers needs , continues with putting together the most functional group of equipment for the job and concludes with on time commissioning of the facility.

Our "Partners"

Successful completion of a complex grain storage project requires input from many specialists , suppliers , contractors and subcontractors. We see our most important function as acting as the enabling catalyst bringing all these players together. Over the years we have established ties with some of the best in each of these fields. From Brock our supplier for silos (Simex was the top international distributor for Brock in 2004 and has been in the top 3 for the past 9 years) to eminent university professors of civil engineering, our strength is our partners. As each project takes us to a different location we have developed considerable expertise in finding , evaluating and working with new partners as well as taking existing partners to new projects. Our main partner in every project remains to be the customer. We are proud to say that our company is built upon the customers choosing us to be their partner for their next project.

Project Management Expertise

Effective execution of turning a green field into a state of the art facility on time and within budget requires not only capability but also careful planning and resource allocation. For more than a decade we have been utilizing specialized software for our planning . Combining our planning capabilities and experience in construction of grain facilities ensures that surprises are kept to a minimum . In managing our projects we draw upon capabilities of employees with multinational construction contracting experience . Given the extensive experience of Turkish construction companies we have access to an unmatched pool of talent.

Procedures, forms and contracts

Once a complex project is undertaken it is imperative that all the necessary procedures , forms and sample contracts are written. Our standard "Planning and Control System" (PKS) is adapted to the project generating the procedures of completing forms, forms themselves and periodical reports to be generated , this ensures timely reporting from the field to Istanbul and ensures that process and budget is followed in a timely manner . A detailed timeline of construction with combined costing and detailed materials usage is mapped using Primavera construction software. This becomes the centerpiece of project management keeping priorities , deadlines and progress in check. Another important part of our project management is the management of contracts . Assuring responsibilities are correctly divided among partners and controlling the relationships among parties involved is paramount to the success of our work.

Management Team

Each AgriBulk Division project is assigned to one of the Simex Managing Partners (SMP) to ensure clear lines of communication with all involved partners. Project Manager communicates with his SMP usually on a daily basis so all decisions can be made in a timely manner .
